MEET ASIF

For the longest time, I identified mostly just as an IT professional.  I was defined by my career and what I could provide for my family.  I am much more than this, and I contribute in so many other ways to the world.

Activist. Father.  Son.  Brother.  Life Coach.  Artist. Child of Immigrants.  Friend.  Uncle. Person of Color.  Spiritual Searcher. Lover. Gamer. Leader. 

Of course, still a Technologist and love to tinker but that is not all of who I am.

I am a child of immigrants. Being brown and raised in America, I’ve felt that I didn’t belong here, especially growing up in a predominantly white neighborhood. Also, I was too “American” for folks back home. Caught in the middle I had to create my own belonging. What is your struggle being an immigrant or a child of immigrants?

We have had unique challenges growing up Muslim in the West. From being taught to be scared of Allah or going to hell to being told “they” hate us or don’t want us here in this country. Personally navigating our own spirituality is one thing.

The other having to deal with the outside world when crisis happen like the Genocide in Gaza now; or in the past like the Iranian revolution, various bombings, Trump, or 9/11. Do you feel like they hate us or don't want us here in the country?
